  • Sticky The Concept

    Ladies, gentlemen ... fellow bloggers.

Do you feel the need to cook up a storm? Would you like to invade four other bloggers homes and stuff your face? Can you be highly critical?

Then this may be the place for you.

After the idea took shape here I have set this seperate blog up for following the highs, lows and utter humiliation of "Blog Dine With Me".

Please bear with me while this is under construction and I figure out how to put the rules etc up so you can all decide if you want to apply. Note that for this first annual (?) attempt places are limited to five (plus partners if applicable).

  • Contestants ready? Gladiators ready?

    Sorry, wrong show!

Contestants here are your months and some information on what not to include in your menu.

    April - Juzzzy
    June - Scoobydoofus
    August - LondonNici
    October - Sixpence

There are only three items NOT to be used in your menu and there are as follows:

    1. No shellfish.
    2. No cola.
    3. No caffeine products.

    no_fish_shellfish_enNoCokeNoCoffe_Full

If you wish to use any of the above in your menu please ensure you have a suitable alternative for those that can't have them. With regard to the caffeine products you may offer coffee with or after you meal please ensure you have an alternative such a decaffeinated coffee or tea.

Please have your final menus emailed to me by the end of November and do not reveal you final menu to anyone else. I will let the other contestants know (via blog entry here) of your menu one week before the date of you meal.

    Have fun!

P.S. Any questions talk to Nici! (or me)

  • Attention contestants .... here we go !!

    Okie dokie .....

Would the following please stand to attention and well ...er... pay attention.

Jenniebaby, Scoobydoofus, Sixpence and Juzzzy (obviously I am already paying attention)

You must notify of any special dietary requirements that you may have no later than Oct 2nd. Be sure to mention allergies, vegetarian, etc however you are not allowed to give any indication of favorite types of food. As this info may be something that some may not want shared with the whole world I have decided it is best if this is emailed to our adjudicator (the wonderful Landers). I shall message you all with his email address.

Once this has been received all contestants will be informed of the details (so as to avoid any hospital visits :) )

You are advised to not start planning your menus until you are aware of the above for obvious reason.

Then you must prepare your menu and submit to Landers on the above mentioned email no later than 31st October.

Your menu must consist of starter, main and desert.

As some of you may wish to do dishes with seasonal foods I would like everyone to also indicate to Landers which of the following months they would like as their hosting month (and then Landers will assign months trying to best suit everyone):

    February 2010
    April 2010
    June 2010
    August 2010
    October 2010

I have decided that it is best to start the actual hostings after Christmas etc is done and dusted and I have decided to have a month gap between each dinner to allow for scheduling/finances etc.

Even though I am trying my best to be somewhat organised with this there may be things I miss or forget so please feel free to help me out.

Also want to assure everyone that I will in no way have preknowledge of menus and neither will Scooby no matter how much he begs Landers so I promise there will be no unfair advantages.

Last but not least .... good luck and lets have fun !!!

  • The Contestants

Please confirm yourself and instructions (menu submissions etc) will be sent out accordingly (Oooooo look at me sounding all professional an all that jazz).

    Jenniebaby
    Scoobydoofus
    Sixpence
    Juzzzy
Me (and I hereby declare myself confirmed).

p.s. I will remove myself as a contestant if anyone else wants in and notifies before 15th September

    :)

  • The Rules.

    1. You must be vouched for.

For obvious reasons of personal safety if you are not a well known blogger then you must be vouched for by no less than two well known bloggers who have met you in person. There is no offense meant by this and I am sure everyone understands.

    2. BCUK are in no way responsible for any part of this competition and are not held liable for anything from bad jokes to food poisoning.

This is just something that I thought might be a fun thing to do and want to make sure everyone keeps that in mind.

OK, now that boring stuff is out of the way .........

    3. £100 maximum to be spent on food.

This is to be provided by yourself. I will NOT be financing this but I will come up with some kind of prize at my own cost. The reason for limit is to make it a fair competion and to stop things getting out of hand.

    4. Drinks

When hosting you are not responsible for providing alcohol. Each guest diner should bring a bottle of their choosing with them.

    5. Accommodation

There are absolutely no obligations to provide overnight accommodation to your guests but please do provide details of local hotels if needed.

    6. Attendance

For this to work it will need a certain degree of commitment from those who end up being chosen. While emergencies are totally understandable please do try your utmost to keep to the chosen dates. These dates will be chosen diplomatically and with full input from all parties and this competition is likely to last over quite a few months so we can all save up/get time off work/recover from last meal (delete as appropriate).

    7. Scoring

Each guest will score the host based on menu (ws it tempting?), food (was it edible?), atmosphere (did you slip into a coma?) and cuteness (ok, not really on the last one). These scores will be kept secret from all parties and from Blogville until the end. In keeping with this all guests are asked to not reveal their scores to anyone. They may discuss the night, regale the world with the utter humilation they may have experienced - just dont share scores.

    8. Menus

All menus are to be submitted in advance of first dinner party happening and cannot be changed. All involved must make clear any allergies etc they may have so menus can be planned with this in mind.

Thats it ..... if there is anything I may have missed please let me know otherwise can anyone who is interested in this let me know for sure no later than 15th September and then if there are more than 5 entires we will put it up for vote as to who everyone in Blogville wants to see take part (i.e. who they want to see crash and burn !!).

    I need a drink now.
